There are two great event notice boards that we commonly look at and they have so many amazing event that are out of our scope so we thought we would highlight them here. '''Flypost''' is ''"an alternative way to share cultural events without the use of harmful tech platforms."'' and is yet in its early development. '''Ainriail''' is a ''"Event noticeboard for the punk, DIY, radical, anarchist, and queer counterculture, scene, and community in Dublin"''. The latter is also looking for people to give them a hand, if you feel like getting involved somewhere.
Hello everyone and welcome to Newsletter #69!!!

'''This one marks our 3rd anniversary'''. It’s a bit surreal to realise we’ve been doing this for that long, especially as a group of four volunteers, alongside organising meetups, workshops, and events, and trying to keep our own practices going as well.

Over that time, it’s been good to see the new media / digital / electronic art scene continue to develop across Ireland, and to have some part in connecting people through it.

What started as a fairly simple idea has gradually grown into a network of artists sharing work, testing things out, showing up to events, and occasionally collaborating. That side of it has probably been the most meaningful for us.

Thanks to everyone who has come to something, sent work, performed, presented, or just read these newsletters over the past three years.

We’re planning to keep it going.

As a little celebration, we want to share a Mini Doc which was shot and edited by our very own Scott Robinson ([https://yulon.ie Yúlon]) about the ''Concept Null 2025'' event from last November! Find it in the articles section.

Also, just to highlight the '''3rd Digital Art Symposium''' is on the 22nd of April and is hosted by the lovely people Stephan Roddy and Emer Yip from UCC. We look forward to meeting people there! See link below.
Two recent pieces from Neural that stuck out to us this month, both circling different forms of machine and ecological mediation:

<hr>
<h4>'''A Needle in a Haystack, superhuman machines'''</h4>

A project by Varvara & Mar that uses an industrial robot and AI to perform a kind of exaggerated metaphor, scanning a literal haystack to find a needle. It plays with the idea of “superhuman” machine capability, but redirects it away from efficiency and toward something more symbolic, folding in ecological concerns and the gap between technological ambition and real-world complexity.

'''[https://neural.it/2026/03/a-needle-in-a-haystack-superhuman-machines/ Source]'''
<p>&#8203;</p>
<h4>'''Coral Sonic Resilience, symbiotic mediation'''</h4>

Marco Barotti’s underwater installation uses sculptural habitats and embedded speakers to broadcast the sound of healthy reefs into damaged ecosystems, encouraging marine life to return. It sits somewhere between artwork and intervention, using sound as a tool for ecological repair and proposing a kind of cross-species communication through artificial soundscapes.
'''Praxis Artists’ Union on the Closure of Vital Art Spaces'''

Praxis Artists’ Union has published a statement responding to the ongoing loss of artist-run and independent spaces in Ireland, framing it as a structural failure rather than a series of isolated incidents. Drawing on member surveys, the piece points to rising rents, insecure leases, and the absence of long-term cultural infrastructure as key factors driving artists out of cities — and, increasingly, out of the country. It’s a clear call for systemic change, not last-minute interventions once spaces are already gone.

The first comprehensive introduction to the origins, aspirations, and evolution of live coding.

Performative, improvised, on the fly: live coding is about how people interact with the world and each other via code. In the last few decades, live coding has emerged as a dynamic creative practice, gaining attention across cultural and technical fields—from music and the visual arts to computer science. Live Coding: A User's Manual is the first comprehensive introduction to the practice and a broader cultural commentary on the potential for live coding to open up deeper questions about contemporary cultural production and computational culture. This multiauthored book—by artists and musicians, software designers, and researchers—provides a practice-focused account of the origins, aspirations, and evolution of live coding, including expositions from a wide range of live coding practitioners. In a more conceptual register, the authors consider liveness, temporality, and knowledge in relation to live coding, alongside speculating on the practice's future forms.
'''The Critical Makers Reader. (Un)learning Technology'''

A decade ago many gushed at the possibilities of 3D printers and other DIY tech. Today makers are increasingly shaking off their initial blind enthusiasm to numerically control everything, rediscovering an interest in sociocultural histories and futures and waking up to the environmental and economic implications of digital machines that transform materials. An accumulation of critique has collectively registered that no tool, service, or software is good, bad, or neutral—or even free for that matter. We’ve arrived at a crossroads, where a reflective pause coincides with new critical initiatives emerging across disciplines. What was making? What is making? What could making become? And what about unmaking? The Critical Makers Reader features an array of practitioners and scholars who address these questions. Together, they tackle issues of technological making and its intersections with (un)learning, art and design, institutionalization, social critique, community organizing, collaboration, activism, urban regeneration, social inequality, and the environmental crisis.
Want to buy a house in the future? As security blurs into speculation and the future feels increasingly uncertain, this remote performance explores what it really means to own a home.
Unfolding where you live - via a mysterious package, a phone call, and a cryptic website - this intimate encounter brings the deeply personal debate around housing into your own home. Created in response to housing and data research as part of the Data Stories project, at Maynooth University, the artwork is critically tied to the current discussions happening around place and planning that unfold in conference rooms, in political debates, and in our living rooms. Interrogating the notions of housing as an investment and how data is created and used to shape planning (and ultimately places), the work offers a route into these discussions that is less trodden.
