[[File:Banner-website-launch.jpg]]

Hey everyone, welcome back to another edition of our newsletter γ„Ÿ(≧◇≦)ㄏ
The new Concept NULL website is finally here! Head over to conceptnull.org to have a look and a read through what it's all about. This is a really big thing for us and will be much more than just a portfolio website so if you are interested in our project, head over to find out what this new chapter is all about! πŸ‘€

We have some exciting news to share -- we are putting together a new ConceptNULL website, which will hopefully be ready by the end of this month. It will not only serve as an environment to share and document the activities of our organisation, but also as a co-publishing platform for archiving new media related activies happening on our little island! Β
Secondly, we will be announcing another meetup soon, west coast, so stay tuned!

As mentioned before, we hope to share more on it soon; going into more detail about the vision for this platform, and more broadly, Concept NULL as an organisation, as we begin to grow!

Thank you for all of your support, and we hope you enjoy this letter and as always we encourage feedback or any general communication through out e-mail at [email protected]

<h4>'''Summer 2024 reading from MIT'''</h4>
<h4>'''Awesome 3D Gaussian Splatting Resources'''</h4>

''MIT''
''MrNeRF''

MIT faculty and staff authors have published a plethora of books, chapters, and other literary contributions in the past year. The following titles represent some of their works published in the past 12 months. In addition to links for each book from its publisher, the MIT Libraries has compiled a helpful list of the titles held in its collections.
An excellent compilation of research and tools related to Gaussian Splatting. If you're not sure what that is, I recommend this [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVv%20IQKlafQ two minute video]. Β

<h4>'''How Tall is the Internet?'''</h4>
<h4>'''All Watched Over by Our Data Double'''</h4>

''Lai Yi Ohlsen''
''Simon Biggs, Ana Carvalho''

Lai Yi Ohlsen’s essay Β«How Tall is the Internet?Β» explores the complexities of measuring the internet’s performance and accessibility. It delves into methodologies, the subjective nature of metrics, and the socio-political implications of digital divides and internet shutdowns.
An interesting read on how visual media and social media engagement contribute to the construction and circulation of "data doubles," representations of individuals generated through pervasive surveillance technologies, and examines how media artists reflect on this phenomenon and its implications in the context of surveillance capitalism.

An excellent compilation of research and tools related to Gaussian Splatting. If you're not sure what that is, I recommend this two minute video.

All Watched Over by Our Data Double

Simon Biggs, Ana Carvalho

An interesting read on how visual media and social media engagement contribute to the construction and circulation of "data doubles," representations of individuals generated through pervasive surveillance technologies, and examines how media artists reflect on this phenomenon and its implications in the context of surveillance capitalism.
