Welcome to our new home!

If you have just stumbled upon us, head over to the about page to find out who we are. If you are looking for the newsletter sign-up, go here. And for the website launch, just read on.

We’ve been working hard to make this website fulfil all our needs and hopefully the needs of new media artists and cultural institutions in Ireland. We have big plans with what we want to do with this but sadly don’t have the time to do it all at once, so this will be a long-term project which we will be building out in steps, and will need your help to do so.

We intend for this website to be a durable, decentralised, and community-driven platform for Irish artists and cultural initiatives. Our goal is to create an open-source co-publishing tool that will archive, connect, and promote past, present, and future activities in the realm of new-media art in Ireland.

How exactly we plan to make that happen is in the power of the W I K I . This page you are looking at right now, is a wiki article. As a matter of fact, everything on our website is now a wiki article. And if you know Wikipedia, then you know what that means. Everyone can expand on them and add new articles, reference them in other articles, and thereby create an information network.

Yes, you might be saying; “¿que?”, but let us cook. The newsletter, while not looking any different, consists of entries which are added by creating new wiki articles. That’s how we made the last few. And those wiki articles have tags like dates, event types, organisers, artists involved and so on which, you guessed…are all also wiki articles.

You may see where we’re going with this. If we keep writing the newsletter, these artists, venues and organisers will have all these events and open calls tied to them. So over time, it's like a self-writing portfolio. One that is hyperlinked and connected to every other artists and institutions wiki. A true, decentralised, community driven repository. One in which people can add to their own wiki’s, and add to others too.

Version 1 Launch → Finalising Documentation → Beta Testing → Functionality Build-out → Version 2 Launch

That's the grand idea. We are still in the early stages and need to iron out some of the core functionality and add info about us to the website before we can move on.

Before the end of the year, we will be reaching out for beta testers to create their own profiles on conceptnull.org, allowing them to log events, add portfolios and any other content related to their arts practice they wish to share. This stage will be crucial as it will be the formative process of deciding how this website should serve the users.

Following this testing and development phase, we will be finalising V2 of the website and opening it up to everyone, hoping to connect and serve the community to the fullest potential.
