The Estate is an immersive virtual game experience that combines art, theater, social media, and music to explore themes of masculinity, body image, emotional relationships, and attitudes toward sexuality among young working-class men in Belfast during the pandemic. Created in Unreal Engine 4, it speaks to a typically overlooked demographic using relatable, colloquial language, resembling a blend of Grand Theft Auto and Dublin Oldschool. The project includes a workshop for inner-city youth (ages 16-23) from Dublin and Belfast to experience the game, share feedback, and discuss creating a "Virtual Estate" that reflects their own communities' interests and challenges.
