A Meditation of Power on All Levels

Artists and Hackers

A podcast in conversation with new-media artist Shawné Michaelain Holloway. Known for her noisy experimental electronics and performance practice, Holloway shapes the rhetorics of computer programming and sadomasochism into tools for exposing structures of power. Her fascinating backstory and process are explored in this podcast. There are many interesting talking points in this episode such as the impact of our understanding of the tools and software to artists and what they mean particularly with their place and shape in culture.

Rhizome’s Preservation Services

Rhizome

Rhizome have recently launched their preservation services for archiving software and digital works. It's a fee based service. offering support to artists, organisations, and creative agencies for archiving and restoring software- or network-dependent art and outdated web projects. The program also offers discounts and funding opportunities to keep preservation affordable, and provides the Conifer web archiving platform for creating interactive copies of websites. Is this the answer to digital art archiving? We're not so sure but interesting to see how a strategy like this might play out.
